Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI concluded this month. Some of the biggest trends presented sumptuous shades, reimagined classics, and extravagance unlimited. Here, we spotlight the biggest trends that are on our radar and fit in perfectly with our design-forward universe.
CORSETS
This season, corsets are the new going-out uniforms.
Arpita Mehta showcased vacation-ready versions adorned with sequins and mirrors.
Tarun Tahiliani dressed Sobhita Dhulipala in a cocktail-ready concept saree.
And, Siddartha Tytler paired bright corsets over suits for men.
DENIMS 2.0
The utilitarian, wear-anywhere fabric was presented in fresh iterations.
While Deme presented oversized gender-fluid styles made with repurposed denims, Two Point Two was inspired by Japanese streetwear made with smart denim.
Elsewhere, Hiro showcased denim dresses and overalls with shredded textures.
HIGH-OCTANE SHINE
There was plenty of glitter and glamour on the runways. At Itrh, we noticed featured shimmery dresses paired with shining blazers, capes, and sarees.
Namrata Joshipura’s presented bedazzled jumpsuits with cut-outs.
And at Monisha Jaising, poolside glamour took center stage with embellished pieces.
COBALT BLUE
Akaaro’s Gaurav Jai Gupta adopted the creative possibilities of the iconic Klein Blue created by French Artist Yves Klein.
Vaishali S interpreted this hue in handwoven pieces that resemble wearable art.
And, Ruchika Sachdeva included inky cobalt blues in asymmetrical tent tops and pleated shirt dresses accentuated by Bodice’s signature binding.
ANIMAL MOTIFS
Fashion’s walking on the wild side this season.
Koytou by Khyaan decorated flowy digital-printed shirts with parrot and flamingo prints in vibrant shades.
Sameer Madan’s showstopping look on influencer Niharika NM included a leopard-printed corset belt.
And, Mahima Jain’s wedding-ready ensembles featured everything from whimsical horses to butterflies.
